Tuesday’s tape split into two markets: the Dow rose about 1.0% to close at 52,496 on 3M’s raised outlook and Northrop Grumman’s beat, while the Nasdaq finished flat and the S&P 500 edged up 0.3% to 7,712. The day’s clearest signal came from $GM$: down about 8% despite beating the quarter, because its narrowed 2026 profit range missed the midpoint analysts expected — guidance, not beats, keeps driving this market.

Chips were the pain trade into the close: $SOXL$ swung from 91.35 intraday to finish down 1.2%, and CoreWeave hit a fresh 52-week low as AI-financing doubts lingered. Brent crude held above $111, near a five-month high, on Houthi claims of Saudi attacks and an Iranian cable threat; housing starts fell 5.2% for a third straight miss, with the 10-year near 5.1%.

Ananke’s end-of-day read: the regime holds Recovery Long Bias (light) — three of the five trend models sit flat ($SPY$, $TQQQ$, $GDX$), while the open $SOXL$ LONG deepened to 3.0% underwater and the $USO$ LONG rides a 9.35% cushion into $111 oil. Netflix reported after the bell and Tesla, Meta and IBM print Wednesday: the Dow’s earnings-driven lead over tech either gets validated — or the tech fade deepens.

The day’s split verdict: A) the Dow’s earnings rally broadens and chips bounce back, or B) guidance can’t keep carrying a 5.1%-yield market and the tech fade continues — which side are you on?
