Ananke Market Morning Teaser — Thu Oct 15
The midday tape is splitting in two — and Ananke’s 10:00 AM signals are living on both sides of it.
The Dow holds up 0.8% on defensive rotation while the Nasdaq slides and $SOXL$ craters 7.3% — Nvidia, AMD, Micron and Sandisk all deep red as debt-funded AI spending gets repriced. CoreWeave dropped another 7% even after reports put Anthropic’s Q3 revenue at $16.8B.
Inflation is back driving the bus: September PPI surged 1.3% for the month, the hottest since 2022, a day after CPI hit 3.7% — October Fed hike odds are now near 1 in 3, with Chair Warsh speaking Friday. Yet retail sales beat and jobless claims stayed low, so the soft-landing bid survives.
Gold and oil keep absorbing the fear bid: bullion near $4,143 with miners up nearly 3%, Brent near $104 on Hormuz shipping attacks. Overnight, the Nikkei fell 4.8% and Korea’s Kospi collapsed 7.6%.
Ananke’s rule-based system repositioned at 10:00 AM: $SPY$ short renewed, $SOXL$ short opened into the chip rout, $GDX$ short opened against gold’s breakout — all three leaning into this morning’s momentum. The $USO$ long since October 1 keeps paying with crude bid, up over 7%.
